Day 1

Well, it's the first day of our Intersession Immersion. I have to confess, I'm a little nervous. The day started off great, with icebreakers and various activities and discussions. A large portion of the morning was a discussion of our pre-immersion reading, "The Working Poor".

I found the discussion to be invaluable in preparing for the immersion. The book itself was kind of hard to read, and rather sad. Reading about the working poor made me think about how fortunate I am to take things like shelter, food, and education for granted.

So far, I'm happy to be in Saint Petersburg. The hotel is amazing, and cooking dinner was awesome! It was a great way to learn more about eachother and how we interact. I'm really excited to start working with Habitat for Humanity tomorrow, and start working on the houses.
