Such a creative title naturally needs an equally creative post but I am making no promises.
I expected the day to start out with blue sunny skies and warm temperatures but instead woke up to a very cold grey morning. Being from Malaysia, a tropical country that has warm weather every day of the week, I had exactly the right clothing set to cope with cold weather- no, I really didn't. Fortunately these bleak prospects didn't foreshadow the first day of the alfonner intercession. But it was cold- very cold.
Instead of listing of the events of the day robotically, I'd rather talk about some of the instances that had an impact on me namely the discussion on the textbook, the Tableaux Vivant activity and finally the Crossing the Line activity. When I first read the textbook, I had my opinions set about it and didn't expect anyone to have a different opinion. It was a foolish assumption I suppose, because if you put 19 different people in the same room, you are bound to have a plethora of different opinions. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the exchange of different ideas through the discussion and some of the opinions presented, especially when we began to talk about morality, were really eyeopening. I liked the Tableaux Vivant activity mostly because it enabled us to convey a powerful situation or concept in a moment which was both challenging and extremely effective. Finally, I found Crossing the Line very interesting mainly because I had never done such an activity before but also because of how differently people reacted toward it.
Through these activities and some other ones like the ice breakers at the beginning, I got to know my fellow alfonners much better which I believe was the main goal of today. I'm definitely looking forward to tomorrow and the challenges that come with it.
