Why You Shouldn't Press All the Buttons in a Car

Hey Alfonners!

The first day of our Immersion/Intercession was about discussing the book The Working Poor: Invisible in America by David Shipler and getting to Clearwater/ Tampa.

I was expecting it to be similar to our Bonner Retreat in August but this Immersion is turning out to be a lot more intense. The activity “frozen frame” made us think about ourselves and those around us; an enlightening way to start a service trip - Our job in this activity was to illustrate the essence of the figures of the book. The other exercise was Crossing the Line which also allowed us to see that we are not alone and to not be so judgmental about others for we never fully grasp another person’s life and mentality. Apparently Habitat is also really extreme in a good way, so BRING IT ON.

The trip to Clearwater was very interesting, it included: one minivan, two crazy drivers, three screamers, and countless bad radio stations. There was an incident of near death by cold and bladder-burst but, hey, service is messy and unpredictable.

After we had our family moment while cooking for dinner, eating it, and enjoying each other company after it.

Looking forward to tomorrow!
